Principle:

The role of hemoglobin is to carry oxygen to various parts of the body. We call the oxygen content of hemoglobin at any given time blood oxygen saturation. The finger oximeter measures this oxygen saturation.

Hemoglobin has a state of carrying oxygen, of course, there is also an empty state, we call the hemoglobin that carries oxygen oxygenated hemoglobin, and the hemoglobin in the no-load state is called reducing hemoglobin. Oxygenated hemoglobin and reduced hemoglobin have different absorption properties in the spectral range of visible and near-infrared light. Reduced hemoglobin absorbs more red frequency light and less infrared frequency light; Oxygenated hemoglobin, on the other hand, absorbs less red frequency light and more infrared frequency light.

Using red light and red diplomacy to irradiate the finger, the photodiode at the receiving end will produce a weak photocurrent that changes with the pulse, and the photocurrent is converted, filtered, and amplified to obtain the pulse waveform, the pulse frequency is obtained according to the peak spacing, and the hemothromic oxygen saturation is obtained according to the ratio of red light and infrared photocurrent.
